Getting Ready
Well the House of Butterflies grant proposal went in thanks to Tyler.
Kyra and I are getting ready for the 5/25/2026 reading of Cold Fusion the Rock Musical. We have tweaked a few things and now it down to the nitty gritty like printing three holed double sided scripts for the readers. Because my social scientist character is interpreting things for the audience she has overhead projector slides to show so those will also have to be printed for those who don’t have a script, like the “audience”.
I am working again on Jessie and the Fat Man which became Jessie and the Architect and is now Floor 7 Level 1. The reasons for the name changes is that the play is now about how Jessie responds to and takes advice from both the architect, Mies van der Rohe, and from Farnsworth. I have sent it off to Jenny and we shall see. I had submitted it for a few playwriting contests but realized that it really wasn’t ready for that. I would like to have it ready soon as I need to have a one act play of about 60 minutes to round out things.
And then there is the third 10 minutes script. I would like to get done so I can have a reading of the three of them together.
In order to push myself to be more spontaneous in my writing I am taking a Chicago Dramatists course entitled: Live on Location. We are set in a furniture store, District, in Andersonville. We are to have a performance in the store at the end of our three hour I will fail miserably as I am not at all spontaneous about how I write, slow and deliberative. Indeed my next project has me reading three books on John Quincy Adams and the gag rule.
